What should you start with.......

“What essential oils do you recommend I buy?” is a frequent questions of beginners .....
It’s a tough one to answer, because what EOs you buy depends on what you’re going to use them for. However,  I’ve narrowed it down to 10 essential oils to consider when starting to use them.

1. Peppermint - headaches, clear sinuses and invigorate.
2. Melaleuca - for all skin issues
3. Lavender - AWESOME for burns, ALL calming things, sleep, relaxing
4. Lemon - LOVE to add this to my drinking water but it's also awesome for a cleanser, cleaning and add to honey to soothe dry throat
5. Frankincense (favorite of mine!) 1 drop under tongue for depression and SO MUCH MORE. it's the King of Oils, blends with everything to make it work better. If Lavender on your pillow isn't working add 1 drop of this to it, and it will knock you out for a very restful sleep!
6. Breathe (Doterra brand blend) - for all respiratory issues. cough, colds, asthma
7. Digestzen (Doterra brand blend) - LOVE this for heartburn, stomach aches! ALL DIGESTIVE ISSUES!
8. On-Guard (Doterra brand blend) - it's called the protective blend. use it to build up immunity in blood. Studies have been done on this. Kills MRSA in petri dishes. I use this on our feet all the time!
9. Deep Blue (Doterra brand blend) - for all the sore, achy muscles. LOVE DEEP BLUE!
10. Oregano - a natural anti-biotic. use in a capsule when starting to feel sick. Gets rid of sickness FAST. Use as part of cleaning out the GI tract (candida). I also add this to ON GUARD blend when rubbing on our feet!

6 Things you should know.....

SIX things you should know about Essential Oils:

1 -Essential oils are not really oils. They do not contain the fatty acids that constitute what we would consider an actual oil. Valerie Gennari Cooksley, author of Aromatherapy: Soothing Remedies to Restore, Rejuvenate and Heal defines essential oils as “highly concentrated plant constituents possessing potent medicinal and cosmetic qualities.” However, I think Stephanie Tourles nailed it in Organic Body Care recipes when she said, “I consider essential oils the life force or the soul of the plant.”
Most essential oils are high in antibacterial, antifungal, and antiviral properties: This makes them an excellent addition to your homemade cleaning preparations. Oils that are best for cleaning are: Lemon, grapefruit, eucalyptus, peppermint, melaleuca, lavender, and rosemary.

2 - Essential oils are miniscule in molecular size, which means they are absorbed well by the skin – making them perfect ingredients in personal care items intended to heal, soften, and nourish. However, they do not accumulate in the body over time – they simply offer up their healing properties and then pass on through.
Scientific studies have shown that rosemary essential oil helps your brain perform. Specifically, smelling rosemary essential oil helps memory recall and performance on tests. Interestingly, this study also showed that groups that inhaled either rosemary or lavender essential oil felt much more relaxed than those who inhaled no odor at all.
Fragrance oils and essential oils are NOT the same thing. As a rule of thumb, if you see the word “fragrance” or “fragrance oil” or even “perfume” on anything, you can assume this is synthetic and NOT natural. (Even if it says natural fragrance.)

3 - Essential oils are wholly natural and cannot be patented; which means that you’ll never see an essential oil in a pharmaceutical drug. As such, you can expect that the vast majority of mainstream healthcare practitioners will never recommend essential oils as therapeutic alternatives to drugs. More importantly, because essential oils cannot be patented, drug companies will not waste money studying them. This limits our scientific knowledge of essential oils GREATLY, and the majority of what we know about them are things that have been passed down through thousands of years of personal use and experimentation.
Enormous amounts of plants are needed to produce essential oil. In fact, on the extreme end, it takes 4000 pounds of Bulgarian roses to produce 1 pound of essential oil. Other plants like lavender only take 100 pounds of plant material to produce a pound of essential oil. Still, can you imagine how concentrated essential oils must be, in light of how many plants are used to produce them?

4 - Not all essential oils are created equal, nor does more expensive necessarily mean “better.” The best one's are the ones that the plants are taken from the source of where the plant is native to and they test beyond what the standard is.
To test your essential oil to see how “pure” it is, put a single drop of it on a piece of construction paper. If it evaporates quickly and leaves no noticeable ring, it is pure. If you have a ring left, then it is likely diluted by the manufacturer with an oil of some sort (this test will not work for myrrh, patchouli, and absolutes).

5 - An average Essential oil will last for at least 5 years (if not 10), so one bottle could literally last you a decade. The highest grade blends will NEVER expire. Hopefully that thought will help mitigate the cost involved in purchasing some essential oils. Because they are SO concentrated and only a tiny amount is needed in anything you do, they’ll last you FOREVER. The only exception to this rule is citrus oils, which will see a reduction in potency after 5 years. BUT will still last a very LONG time.
Store your essential oils in dark glass bottles (which they were probably packaged in) and out of direct sunlight. This is simply to help preserve their potency.

6 - USE ESSENTIAL OILS TO HELP YOUR MOOD. Lavender, peppermint, grapefruit, chamomile, lemon, ylang-ylang all help produce happy, joyous moods. Clary sage helps with PMS Rosemary increases focus and concentration. Don’t forget the mood benefits of essential oils.

If you know me at all, you know I have always had my hands doing something!
I do not have idle hands.

Since my daughter was born it has been mostly taking care of her. Doing fun things with her. I absolutely LOVE taking care of her & spending my every moment with her. She is the light of my life.

She has also been the inspiration for a lot of the things I love doing!

Making soap, because of her very sensitive skin, and when I make soap ......
I know exactly what is in it, and I can pronounce the ingredients !

Using essential oils......
I have used them for YEARS now,  and just recently joined the DoTerra team so I can now get them at wholesale prices and sell them to family & friends.

I have always used Lavender to calm her.
Citrus Oils to turn a grumpy mood into a happy mood.  Most of the time it's been aromatic uses on her, except for the Lavender,  her skin gets so irritated by heat, cold, and some foods she eats,  so I have always used Lavender in a carrier oil to keep her skin hydrated and soothed.

I have also always loved to make jewelry and have been meaning to start an aromatherapy line. Working on that now.  I have some pieces that can be used for that now in my make your own necklace section of my online Jewelry Shop !

However I am hoping to expand on this in the very near future!

So stay tuned & follow me.......

Its effects are deep and penetrating with sustained results. Once gently rubbed into the area of discomfort, Deep Blue's cool therapeutic benefit will be felt almost immediately. For topical use only.

About Essential Oils ...

Derived from leaves, bark, flowers, roots, stems and other parts of the whole plant, essential oils are the highly concentrated, healing liquid of plants; the true essence of aroma therapy and other natural, physical and psychological therapeutic practices. Free from artificially created perfumes or fragrances, the chemical composition of essential oil molecules carefully penetrate the lungs when inhaled and are absorbed through the skin and into the bloodstream to deliver efficient and effective healing qualities.
For thousands of years, essential oils have been part of natural medicine, aiding in the relief of pain to clearing of skin irritations, healing chronic diseases and provide many other physical benefits. They have also been shown to enhance and balance out moods and bring energy or calm when needed.
Grown and harvested throughout the world, each essential oil is hand selected and purposefully chosen from its indigenous place of origin, to maximize therapeutic potentiality.
If you have ever enjoyed the scent of a rose, you’ve experienced the aromatic qualities of essential oils. These naturally occurring, volatile aromatic compounds are found in the seeds, bark, stems, roots, flowers, and other parts of plants. They can be both beautifully and powerfully fragrant. In addition to giving plants their distinctive smells, essential oils protect plants and play a role in plant pollination. In addition to their intrinsic benefits to plants and being beautifully fragrant to people, essential oils have long been used for food preparation, beauty treatment, and health care practices.

    More on My Beloved Oils

I absolutely love essential oils. I have used many different brands, from ordering them from soap making companies to buying them at Wholefoods, GNC, and Vitamin World.

I was looking for oils that are guaranteed to be pure and therapeutic grade, to insure I am getting the best results from them.

That is why I decided on DoTerra !

I ordered the Physicians Kit to start with because this is where my interest lies, now that FLU season is upon us!

Last year my daughter missed 11 days of school during winter, because of sickness going around school.  This year we are going to try to NOT do that.  SO I have been rubbing the bottoms of  her little feet with the:

    On Guard®
    Protective Blend

On Guard is dōTERRA®'s unique, proprietary blend formulated to support healthy immune function. Wild orange essential oil, combined with clove, cinnamon, eucalyptus and rosemary offer a fragrant, natural and effective alternative to synthetic options for immune support. On Guard, with its unique aroma, is one of our most versatile blends. It is also safe to use on counter tops, as a non-toxic way to cleanse surfaces, or to purify the atmosphere by diffusing. For aromatic, topical, or dietary use.

So far so good for this school year! There have been several Children out with the YUCKS , but so far my daughter is not one of them!

I'm also using this blend, being diabetic, virus', and sickness tend to hit me much harder than they did before I was diabetic!

I will keep you posted on how it goes for us this winter!

    Good Morning !

Day two of my coconut oil in the coffee.....
so far so good! Only one side note:  Coconut oil may make you have to go to the bathroom, so be sure you will be within reach of a toilet !

Another thing I am doing to help control the cravings that my blood sugar causes!
My body demands, yes I said demands food. I do not like it, I have never liked it.  I get this gnawing feeling now that I am on so much insulin..... I mean it is horrible, gnawing WAKE you up in the middle of the night kind of hunger pains.....

Well I can't very well get up and eat in the middle of the night,  my body NEEDS that tine of fasting whether it thinks so or not!

So the next thing I'm trying.....

    { You will have to scroll down to the 14th product & that will be the Slim & Sassy Blend }

If you know me at all, you know I signed up to get the wholesale price... which means of course I can now sell it to you also!  BUT honestly I'm not PUSHING it on my friends & family! I will share with you my experience with these oils, and if you think you are interested I would appreciate you buying from my website!
    Shameless plug here:

Just click that link if you want to check out all the awesome products DoTerra Offers!

Okay so about the Slim & Sassy Blend EO

You can put it in water ( I did not love the taste in water) However I will be trying it in some carbonated water with a little stevia, to see if Ilike it that way.

Anyway, I woke up with that gnawing hunger at 5:30 in the morning,  and I wanted to sleep longer, because I was at the beach, and who gets up at 5:30 a.m. while on a mini vacation? Not this girl!!
So I got up got me a glass of water, drank it down, made my stomach hurt even more, so I thought well my slim & sassy blend says it calms your tummy, and helps curb appetite, it has ginger in it, so I know that helps tummies { one of my favorite things: ginger}, it also has peppermint in it, and other good oils, but these two are specifically for tummy issues,  so I thought well I'll try rubbing a couple of drops on my belly and go back to bed and see how it goes!  Well five drops rubbed into my tummy, did calm things down enough for me to go back to sleep until 7:30 a.m.,  so when I naturally woke up at my normal time, I was amazed.....

I no longer had that gnawing hunger, I even had time to get dressed, brush my teeth, and head downstairs for a cup of coffee, and then I had breakfast!

After breakfast,  we went to the park and did some Island shopping.....  when that gnawing hunger pain came back, I just rubbed 5 drops of the
Slim & Sassy Blend onto my tummy, and finished up our shopping, and when we did stop for lunch, I wasn't starving, & that helps me to make better choices !

I'm also giving this Slim & Sassy blend a try on my dear daughter, who is always hungry too!

    { Scroll almost to the bottom of the page to find the shakes}

We both have digestion issues, so we're also adding Digest~Zen to our regimen, but it may take some time to see the result of this.......

    Stay tuned.......

    Once Again ......

    Good Morning!
Here I go once again on my struggle to get healthy and lose some weight!

I thought I had found my solution, to my weight issues, I was trucking along very good on it too! I lost 30 lbs right away, blood sugars weren't getting any higher, cholesterol was getting better, liver enzymes were getting better.

So a year later here I am back at square one.

    What happened you ask?

Well a few changes to the product I was using, and BAM it longer helps me.

    IT WORKED !  I AM PISSED !

The FDA banned the most active ingredient in it, that was the first change. I don't believe for safety reasons, I believe for patent reasons, you can't patent herbs !

So okay, it's still helping other issues, so I continue on it, then they take away two more ingredients.....  and its just not the same anymore.

As always I hop on the gravy train to late.  If I had found this product a year earlier I would be skinny by now! LOL

Next time I find something that works SO WELL, I'm hoarding up on it!

So onto the next part of my journey to get healthy......

I'm going to try some natural things that I'm hoping will help.

The first thing I am adding to my diet is coconut oil. I've been using it some, and especially in my aromatherapy concoctions to rub on myself and my daughter. It makes your skin feel SO good!  Now I'm going to take some advice my Dr. gave me a while back, and I keep seeing the same advice all over the place. SO I'm finally going to do what my Dr. told me to do several years ago! I'm "taking" several tablespoons a day to see what happens!

I have read that it will:

    ~ Help balance Hormones
    {This has been one of my MAJOR problems throughout my life}

~ Help with Blood Sugar levels

~ Help you loose belly fat
    {because of the way it helps your liver}

There's MUCH more it does for you, however these are my 3 main concerns right now!

This morning I added it to my coffee, because let's face it, a spoon full of solid coconut oil is not easy to swallow!
It's not to bad in my coffee.....
I think I can do this......

I'm also adding it to my Thai Chicken Cauliflower Soup in the crockpot for dinner!

Stay tuned & follow me, to see how it goes!
